Finishing a good book is like leaving a good friend.  ~William Feather

A couple of weeks ago, I heard a story on NPR about a 4-year-old who has read 1000 books.

Say what now?!?!

Yea, that’s right. A little girl, 44 years my junior has read that many a book! I’m not sure if in my lifetime that I’ve read that many and I’ve read a lot of books.

Ask my parents, and they’ll tell you that as a little girl, I had a huge appetite for books. I could finish a 300-page book in a day. I even made it a habit of reading my set of World Knowledge encyclopedias, from A-Z, when I didn’t have a book to read. And let’s not talk about my favorite magazine, National Geographic. The pictures amazed me, and so did the articles!

Sadly, I don’t read books much like I did when I was little. But hearing this story stimulated me to reset my love of reading books in 2017 and reminded me of Dr. Suess’s great advice.

The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

In 2017, I’d like to read a book a month. The book I’m reading now isn’t an easy read (see #1 on my list), so I’m a little behind, but I’m hoping that I’ll make up for it later.

Check out my reading list below.
